Es ist fast geschafft, das Jahr 2011 verging wie im Flug, nun sind es also noch knappe 2 Wochen bis zum Jahreswechsel. In Iqaluit ist momentan die dunkelste Zeit. Es ist fast den ganzen Tag „Nacht“.

Ich habe nun meine ersten beiden richtigen freien Tage seit 3 (!) Monaten. Ich kann‘s fast gar nicht glauben. Also habe ich heute Morgen meine Zeit mal sinnvoll genutzt und bin für einen kleinen Wanderausflug in den Sylvia Grinnell Park „spaziert“. Das Wetter war recht angenehm und sonnig, kalt war es natürlich trotzdem. Mit Wind, der ziemlich eklig war, ca. -25° C. Aber für die Verhältnisse noch ertragbar. Viel Zeit blieb mir nicht, da der Sonnenuntergang bereits um 13:30 Uhr einsetzt. Also verbrachte ich ein wenig Zeit an dem äußerst reizvollen Viewpoint des Territorial Park. Dort oben fegte mir ein eisiger Wind um die Ohren aber die Aussicht entschädigte mich dafür. Einfach wunderschön. Es ist ein bisschen Wellness für meine Seele wenn ich mich einfach mal in der Natur niederlassen kann und alles um mich herum auf mich einwirken lasse. Deshalb gibt es heute mal wieder ein größeres Bilderupdate.

Zwischenzeitlich habe ich dann auch mal wieder was über meine Jobsituation im nächsten Jahr zu berichten. Ich habe mich für einen Job im Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife, North-West Territories beworben und habe eine Zusage bekommen. Ich habe nun die Auswahl zwischen einer Rückkehr nach Iqaluit oder einer neuen Aufgabe in Yellowknife. Wo es mich endgültig hinverschlägt werde ich endgültig im Januar entscheiden. Aber ich bin mir zu 80 % sicher das ich mich für Yellowknife entscheiden werde. Das einizge Problem das ich habe ist die Beantragung für mein neues Visum. Denn das neue Visa ist an meinen Arbeitgeber gebunden. Ich kann nicht wie bei meinem jetzigen Visum einfach mal so den Job wechseln oder für ein anderes Hotel arbeiten. Das neue Visum gilt nur für einen Arbeitgeber und kann nicht umgeschrieben werden. Also heisst es für mich gut überlegen und dann für das neue Visum bewerben. Aber wie gesagt, es wird wohl ziemlich sicher Yellowknife werden.

It’s almost done, the Year 2011 flew fast, so we got 2 weeks left until the year will change. It’s the darkest time in Iqaluit. It’s night, almost all day long.

Today is my first REAL day off since 3 (!) months, it’s unbelievable. I decided to go out for a little hiking walk to Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park. The weather was not bad, it was sunny but cold anyways. With the windchill (nasty) around negative 25° degrees. But for the circumstances in Iqaluit acceptable. I had not that much time, because sunset time is 1:30 pm. I spent a little bit of my time at a  very  nice viewpoint. The wind was very icy but the view over the frozen Frobisher Bay was stunning and reimbursed me for that Icecold feeling. It was just wonderful. Its’s like a Spa-Day for my soul when I have the chance to go into a stunning nature with an incredible landscape. For today I have a bigger picture update for you.

Meanwhile I’ve incredible news about my job situation for the upcoming year. I applied for a job at the Explorer hotel in Yellowknife, North-West Territories and received a positive answer :-). No I have the choice between coming back to Iqaluit or starting a new adventure in Yellowknife. I’ll finally decide it in January but I’m pretty sure that I will go for the new adventure to Yellowknife. The only problem I have is that my new Visa is only valid for one job and one company, I’m not able to switch the company or the Job. That means for me, compare Yellowknife and Iqaluit and make sure that I will have a good time for another year in lovely Canada. But however it goes, I’m so happy to have the safety of a job employment in Canada.
